Call for Student Project Assistants

Start: June 1st, 2026
Part-Time: 10 or 20 hours per week
Employment: Up to 12 months
Gross Salary: 10h = 689,80 EUR or 20h = 1379,60 EUR

Project
The research project Suspicious of Artificial Intelligence (SUSAI) will investigate why people
are unwilling to trust in Artificial Intelligence (AI) by focusing on the notion of mistrust. Using the methods
of a literature review and expert interviews, the SUSAI project will develop a conceptual model of
mistrust in AI that is applicable to everyday life Human-AI Interaction (HAII) contexts.
Activities In the role of a student project assistant, you will contribute to the successful completion of
the SUSAI project by assisting in the following research activities: (1) Conducting a literature research
(i.e. find search terms, screen and code papers, analyze and discuss the selected papers), (2) Conducting
expert interviews (i.e., prepare interview protocol, collect consent forms, transcribe and code the interviews,
analyze and discuss potential themes), (3) Contributing to scientific papers (e.g., find relevant
literature, describe the research approach, discuss and report the important results), (4) Participating
in project meetings (e.g., support project planning, present and discuss project results, engage in the
dissemination strategy).

Profile To join the SUSAI project, you must be a student who:
• Is currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or master’s degree program at the University of Salzburg in
a field relevant to the project (e.g., Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Human-Computer
Interaction, Philosophy, Psychology, Sociology).
• Is interested in trust research related to technology development and use.
• Is familiar with writing in the typesetting system LaTeX.
• Is willing to learn about and use the coding software MAXQDA.
• Is fluent in spoken and written English.
• Is good at self-organization and time-management.
• Is able to work independently and shows initiative, and is team oriented.
Students with various disciplinary backgrounds and diversity are encouraged to apply since the SUSAI
project will benefit from team members with various types of knowledge and skills.
